Part of the broader Dassault group which incorporates aerospace manufacturer Dassault Aviation and newspaper Le Figaro , Dassault Systèmes is best known for its 3D computer aided design ( CAD ) software . Its two largest products are CATIA , which it developed itself , and Solidworks , which it acquired in 1997 , though it has branched out into areas such as business analytics and geologic modelling . Though founded in 1981 , the group as a whole can trace its origins to the 1920s , making it the oldest company on this list .
