around an existing structure rather than starting from scratch,” Chenzira explains.“ As a school district and a nonprofit, we must also adhere to established policies.”
This complexity influences technology selection, driving the district toward platforms that can function independently.“ We intentionally select platforms that minimise the need for extensive APIs and isolated systems,” Chenzira notes.“ Our approach is strategic – ensuring solutions integrate seamlessly rather than forcing them together. We don’ t have the luxury of one-off solutions.”
Educational equity through technology The Rebuilding Stronger initiative places educational equity at its core, aiming to standardise opportunities across the district that were previously distributed unevenly. Each zone will offer STEM programs, Montessori education and arts education – options that certain areas lacked before.
“ Equity remains a major driving force in our district – it’ s essential,” Chenzira states.“ With 30,000 students, representing over 10 religious backgrounds and more than 15 languages and dialects spoken as a first or second language, we are a uniquely diverse and culturally rich district in the heart of Indiana.”
Implementing this vision presents significant timelines, set to unfold through 2028.“ This requires us to revamp buildings, close schools, rotate students, and merge schools, and construct new facilities,” Chenzira notes.“ It’ s a massive undertaking, but I believe it’ s ultimately for the betterment of our students.”
