AVI-SPL : Delivering intelligent edge devices
John Bailey , Senior Vice President , Technology & Innovation at AVI-SPL , discusses the importance of intelligent edge devices that support immersive collaboration
“ In today ’ s market , we ’ re seeing a lot of what ’ s broadly referred to as intelligent edge devices .
“ These are devices that sit on the network but have either AI or some kind of ML intelligence built into them .
“ They take on some processing load , for example , the camera may be able to automatically frame a shot . It might be able to do that locally , but then it needs to hand off that media stream or that data to the cloud for further processing .
“ The only way those two things can work together is through very tight coordination and partnership through development .
“ This is where AVI-SPL is able to deliver insight and bridge the gap between technology provider and cloud service provider .
“ We deploy more than 75,000 of these hybrid meeting rooms every single year , so we can provide collaborative services between our different partners .” between product design and the cloud services they connect to .
“ We play an important role in the partnership process by consulting with suppliers , platforms and providers to gain insight into the market and understand the evolving needs of our customers ,” Bailey continues .
“ We see a lot of different customer segments and various applications . Our design and engineering teams leverage this experience to help our partners understand what our customers need , what they have and what they are looking for .”
Close collaboration , therefore , gives AVI-SPL a better understanding of their clients ’ needs and helps technology providers deliver solutions that meet changing workplace requirements .
How AVI-SPL drives collaboration with partners AVI-SPL has several partners working collaboratively in its digital ecosystem . These include audio product provider Shure Incorporated , audio , video and control products provider QSC and control systems and video conferencing firm Creston .
“ The great thing about all our partners is that we ’ ve worked with them for many years ,” notes Bailey .
“ Today , all of these companies push the limits of what technology can do in the workplace , especially when a customer ’ s requirements don ’ t fit with common ‘ off the shelf ’ solutions .
“ These partners really embody the art of the possible – and we can rely on them to extend our feature and function sets specific to a particular client ’ s needs .
