Top moments from Beijing’ s Humanoid Robot Games
Challenging mechanical accuracy Staged at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing, the five-day event combined sporting disciplines with factory, restaurant, office and emergency simulations.
The games coincided with the 2026 World Robot Conference, where companies displayed roughly 3,000 products. It featured 51 events, comprising 30 sports competitions and 21 scenario-based contests. Huawei, a technology partner for the event, reported that more than 40 % of contests required fully-autonomous operations.
Overall, more than 2,000 humanoid robots from 16 countries, such as Germany, Japan and the US, competed across 1,000 matches, according to the organiser. Beyond running, high jump and football, robots participated in table tennis, weightlifting and tugof-war. Elsewhere, there were scenario contests aimed at evaluating whether machines can identify objects, position bodies accurately, apply controlled force and recover from errors without human intervention.
