META’ S US $ 16.2M LAB ADVANCES SMART AUDIO FOR AR GLASSES

Meta’ s new £ 12m( US $ 16.2m) Cambridge lab is pioneering spatial audio and ML advancements for AR and AI glasses like Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta. The lab – on the Ox-Cam tech corridor – replicates everyday acoustic environments with features such as ultra-quiet anechoic chambers, a configurable reverberation room, realistic sensor-equipped home environments and motion tracking zones with sub-millimetre precision. This enables development of contextaware audio algorithms that adapt to user surroundings with low latency, pushing boundaries in audio signal processing and AI.
