THE HACKETT GROUP
Vin Kumar: An experienced implementer Vin heads up The Hackett Group’ s AI and Digital Operations Advisory Practice, and oversees revenue generation and AI and digital operations service delivery. His extensive career spans engineering, finance and management consulting, providing him with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities in digital transformation.
At JP Morgan, he focused on risk management. At Gemini( now Capgemini) he worked on mergers and acquisitions. Such experience helps him understand the challenge of advising large, complex organisations, while finding ways to achieve targeted outcomes with minimal disruption.
“ I come from the old school of consulting where I want to be sitting in my client’ s seat and see the world from their view,” Vin explains.“ Then, when I come back to them, I can advise them much better.”

“ Our clients require an AI roadmap that reflects the current environment and also prepares them for future developments”

As a result, Vin takes a hands-on approach to his work. Describing him and his team of consultants as a‘ SEAL Team Six’, he says they“ come in with precision, identify what has to be done and do it”.
He adds:“ To do that we need the latest tools, both to help our consultants deliver a great service to clients and also for the clients to get maximum benefits in the shortest possible time,” Vin explains.
How Hackett ushers in AI implementation The Hackett Group’ s primary goal when it comes to implementing AI is to assist clients in streamlining operations.
The first step is demystifying technologies like Gen AI for clients and helping them understand its impact on back-office functions such as finance, HR, IT, procurement, sales, marketing and supply chain.
“ Showing clients what Gen AI is and how it works is very different than explaining how it’ s going to impact your R & D and your product side of the house,” Vin explains.
This begins by building a roadmap for AI adoption, which involves several key steps. Vin and his team work closely with clients to identify their needs and challenges, which includes assessing existing processes, understanding the current technology landscape and determining the organisation’ s AI readiness.
“ Our clients require a roadmap that reflects the current environment and prepares them for future developments,” Vin explains. technologymagazine. com 267
