New tech vision At Kardex , the technology vision was crafted through consultations with both internal stakeholders and external companies experienced in R & D transformations . Tobias confessed to not having an extensive background in R & D , so instead of bluffing his way through , he looked together with his leadership team at the ways other companies were operating .
He continues : “ If I would ask when we started this journey three years ago , someone in the company , ‘ what do you think technology department is doing ?’ The answer would be very vague .
“ What I would like to hear is , ‘ you are the ones who always come up with cool ideas helping us to make better business and have happier customers . That was our dream .”
That ’ s why we created a vision for our R & D department to be “ recognised as a driver of innovation and technological advancement , shifting from traditional methods to a more agile , customer-centric approach ”

Tobias has over 20 years of comprehensive and varied professional experience in intralogistics , including many years of P & L responsibility . He has led businesses up to 140 Mio turnover and close to 600 staff . Two very instructive decades at the Swiss industrial pearls Swisslog and Kardex have taught him a lot . Possessing a strong focus for entrepreneurship , his expertise spans strategic and operative management , complemented by a leadership style which balances people orientation and results . Known for being a catalyst for change , shaping cultures , and building organisations , his approach is both proactive and adaptable and has been used successfully in matrix organisations and corporate settings . Founded are his leadership and technological expertise by a bachelor in engineering , a master in innovation management and an executive MBA of the university of St . Gallen .
