How should enterprise environments be redesigned to support seamless human-AI collaboration?
Rakshit: I don’ t think employees experience work in neat categories like“ device”,“ meeting room” or“ workflow”. They experience one working day – and that day is often fragmented. Enterprise AI succeeds when employees experience work as one connected system rather than a collection of disconnected tools. In practice, we’ ve found employees don’ t care which platform, device or workflow owns the experience. They care whether they can get work done efficiently and without unnecessary friction.
The opportunity is to create a workplace where workflows, collaboration environments, devices and support services share intelligence. That’ s the foundation of a Cognitive Enterprise, where AI helps connect people, technology and work in more meaningful ways. It shouldn’ t simply automate existing processes – it should help organisations identify friction, reduce complexity and continuously improve how work gets done.
But the bigger point is simple: the best AI-enabled workplace won’ t feel full of AI. It will just feel easier, more intuitive and more productive for employees.
Damian: The biggest redesign has to be at the workflow level. Plenty of enterprises still rely on disconnected systems, manual hand-offs and messy data, which means AI can only support teams in a fragmented way.
What you need is connected workflows and live, governed data, so AI can see what is going on, choose the right next step and act through approved processes. Whether someone is in a meeting, on a device or inside a service portal, the experience should feed
